A family spokesperson says a body found Monday in the Mississippi River was one of the missing children who fell near Algiers over a week ago.

Dr. Angela Chalk, the family spokesperson, said the body was identified as 15-year-old Kevin Poole.

Chalk said Poole was planning for college and was planning to study Environmental Coastal Management including the Mississippi River.

"He always had a smile. It would not be Kevin if he didn't jump in to try to save his friend's life," Chalk said.

Kevin's body was found roughly two miles down river from where he and the other children fell in.

The recovery of Kevin's body has intensified the search for the other two children, Ally and Brandy Wilson.

Police, Coast Guard and helicopters flew over the river Monday. The United Cajun Navy is also assisting to scour the banks.

The children fell into the river after playing along the west bank of the Mississippi River in New Orleans' Algiers neighborhood over a week ago.

One of the girls fell into the water, prompting the other two to try to save her.
