WBOK's OWN Courtney P Announced As Ms Black New Orleans USA 2022
The Miss Black USA Pageant was founded in 1986 by Karen Arrington, renowned author,
philanthropist, and global women’s empowerment expert. Her mission was to create a
scholarship pageant that celebrated and uplifted black women in a time when other pageant
systems and media at large did not. The Miss Black USA pageant has since crowned 39
queens with delegates from every state in the U.S. Even during the pandemic, the system found
a way to pivot to ensure that this legacy of black girl magic lives on. The Miss Black USA Teen
and Ms Black USA divisions were subsequently added to champion more black female
excellence of all ages. Past sponsorship has included Lifetime Television, Fox Soul Television,
Sheen Magazine, The Washington Post, and Ebony Magazine.
Courtney P Mpagi is a celebrated On-Air Talent on locally black-owned station WBOK 1230AM.
She is the official host of Bayou Classic Fan Fest having hosted the first outdoor festival post
pandemic. She’s a local community advocate and philanthropist. She is a veteran of the stage,
a prominent hosting talent and motivational speaker. She balances being a wife, mother, and
rising star with faith and determination. Courtney P feels that a pageant such as this finds new
relevance in this time in our country as the celebration of black beauty and achievement are
integral to the overall progress of society.
Now this powerful woman has joined the ranks of other magical queens in The Ms Black USA
Pageant system as the reigning Ms Black New Orleans USA 2022. Follow her journey to the
